Choosing the right SleepSafe Bed
We want our clients and your loved ones to rest in a comfortable
and safe environment, so with the advice from care giving professionals
and listening to the needs our clients, SleepSafe™ Beds,
LLC has created a bed system that meets or exceeds the FDA guidelines
on entrapment and falls.
At first glance, it may appear to be confusing
or overwhelming…the many variations of the SleepSafe Beds
product line, but there are actually basic differences in only
3 models. We want to assist you in determining your needs and
find the right solution that is best for you and your loved one
so you both can rest easier. Please take a moment to read through
this “crash course” on
our products to help you sort through the different choices.
Here
is a pictorial comparison and chart, as well as a simple explanation
of the basic differences and what bed solution will best meet
your individual needs. All of our beds are custom built per order
so it is important to order the correct bed the first time. If
you are still unsure about which bed model is right for you, please
call us at toll free 866-852-2337 so we may help you make the
right choice.
Another basic, but important difference in the
3 models is access to the sleep surface. All of our beds are built
with 2 safety rails. On the SleepSafe and the SleepSafe II, the
rails are installed on both sides of the bed, allowing access
from either side. In order to offer the highest level of protection
with a maximum 36 inches of safety rail height above the mattress,
we have designed the SleepSafer with both safety rails tiered
one on top the other on one side, allowing access from only one
side of the bed. Because of the overall height of the bed, it
usually does not create a concern because most users place the
bed against a wall. However, when the SleepSafer is the only solution
to fit your needs, and you need to have access from both sides,
we offer the option for “Dual View”, which includes
2 additional safety rails to replace the solid wood back panel.
All 3 models are available in an upgraded version,
the “PLUS” models, (SS+, SS2+ & SSR+) in which
the box spring or bunkie board. Our product line includes the
SleepSafe™ (SS), SleepSafe™ II (SS2) and SleepSafer™
(SSR) basic models. The most important difference in the 3 bed
models we offer is the safety rail height above the mattress surface.
If your only need is to prevent falls, the SleepSafe will fulfill
your basic need, with protection from 10 inches of safety rail
height. As the user’s activity level increases, the need
for higher safety rail coverage may be needed. As you move up
to the SleepSafe II and the SleepSafer, the height of the safety
rail increases anywhere from 10 inches to a maximum of 36 inches
above the mattress. The overall height of the bed also increases
with each model. board is replaced with a semi-electric frame
that offers remote controlled head and/or feet elevation. The
SleepSafe, SleepSafe II and the SleepSafer are also available
in a “YOUTH” size and a “HiLo” model.
The HI LO models are available in standard twin and a custom size
of 48 inches wide and offer the added feature of fully electric
mattress height adjustment in addition to head and/or feet elevation.
To recap the 3 different models and variations,
please refer to the chart and
pictorial comparison of the 3 models and what choices are
available within each model. You choose the wood type from Oak
or Maple. Both woods are relatively light in color. The Oak tends
to show more of the natural wood grain. Additionally you have
a choice in box spring or bunkie board in the BASIC models. You
would choose the bunkie board when you need to increase the safety
rail height by 4 inches. There is no cost or comfort difference
between box spring and bunkie board.
ALL beds include standard shipping within the continental
US and:
1. Your SleepSafe Bed system of choice
2. A premium 1100 series, memory foam, 3 zone pressure reducing,
moisture proof mattress
3. 3 inch locking casters
4. Foundation: Box spring or bunkie board (Basic models) or electric
frame (Plus or HiLo models)
Note: Padding is available on all SleepSafe bed
models.
